0.3.0 (prototype) — 2026-10-22

First public build: a free early build of the CSV / TSV editor for Windows. See Features for what it contains.

What this build does

  • Opens and saves CSV / TSV files without changing them. A file you open and save without editing is written back byte for byte (with the default save settings). After an edit, the encoding, byte-order mark, line endings and final line break are kept; only what you changed is meant to differ; see the FAQ for the exact conditions.
  • Encodings and delimiters. UTF-8 (with or without BOM), UTF-16, Shift-JIS, EUC-JP, JIS (ISO-2022-JP), GBK, GB18030, Big5 and EUC-KR; the encoding and the delimiter are detected automatically and can be chosen by hand. A first line sep=; is understood and written back. Leading zeros, long numbers and dates stay exactly as written.
  • Editing and viewing. Undo and redo (with a limit on the memory they use), cut / copy / paste (also as CSV, Markdown or HTML), insert, delete and move rows and columns, fill down and right, transpose, insert the date or time, find and replace, sort, text tidy-up, quote settings, delete empty rows, header row, hide and freeze rows and columns, split view, rainbow columns, whitespace marks, zoom, full screen, auto-fit of column widths, a command palette, read-only mode, a tail mode for growing files, and a structure check for rows with a wrong number of columns. A confirmation appears before a file larger than a safe part of the memory is opened.
  • Tabs, menus and appearance. Several files in tabs (reorder, pin, close others, reopen a closed tab, a list of all tabs, Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+8, Ctrl+PageUp / PageDown) with tab widths and several rows of tabs in the settings; the selected tab stands out, unsaved files are marked and same-named files show their folder; menus drawn by the program (never cut off at the window edge) and fully usable with the keyboard (Alt or F10, arrows, letters); light and dark follow Windows (or can be fixed), with an accent color and three text sizes (14, 18 or 22 px).
  • Safe by design. A backup is made before saving; changes made to an open file by another program are noticed; colors, column widths and hidden rows and columns live in a separate sidecar file, never in the CSV; keyboard shortcuts can be changed.
  • Languages. English and Japanese; English is the default and the language can be switched on the first screen and in the settings.

Privacy

  • No network access unless you ask for it: the update check is off by default, and the Check for updates button on the App Information page checks only when you press it. Nothing is sent but the program's name and version number (the server can see your IP address), and there is no telemetry. This build has no licensing, so it never fetches the signed list of revoked license keys or checks subscription keys.
  • The executable carries product, company and copyright information, and no build-machine paths.

Known limitations

  • Windows only. The whole file is loaded into memory, so very large files are not supported.
  • The build is signed with a code-signing certificate, but Windows SmartScreen may still show a warning for a program that few people have downloaded yet.
  • If you use the English display on a Japanese edition of Windows, the buttons in some confirmation dialogs (such as unsaved changes) may appear in Japanese.
